“Simon Snow did what he came to do.”
First line in Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell

It’s time for my summer TBR through Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. I’ve gotten quite good at sticking to those seasonal TBR, and this is the second time in a row that I’ve read all the books from my previous TBR. So no carry-overs. Still, settling for 8 books as usual so that I have room for some mood-reads.
- The Empire of Gold by S. A. Chakraborty (The Daevabad Trilogy #3)
- Mister Impossible by Maggie Stiefvater (Dreamer Trilogy #2)
- A Star Shall Fall by Marie Brennan (The Onyx Court #3)
- Any Way the Wind Blows by Rainbow Rowell (Simon Snow #3)
- The Wicker King by K. Ancrum
- The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams (The Winnowing Flame Trilogy #1)
- Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain
- The Absolutist by John Boyne

As you can tell, I have quite a few series I need to continue, but I also like my standalones in between. Have you read any of these? Which book are you looking forward to reading this summer? Happy reading!

Thrilled to see a Simon Snow book here! Happy reading!

I need to read Wayward Son. I liked Quiet okay, and I loved The Wicker King.

Well, you know how excited I am about you reading The Empire of Gold, so I probably don’t need to tell you π The only other book on this list that Iβve read is The Absolutist – it’s been a while, so pretty much all I remember is that it is horribly depressing, but I think you’ll probably like it π It’s the type of book that makes you think a lot.
And I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Quiet! If you like it, I might have to read it and see if it will help me embrace my introvertedness more π

The way you’re describing The Absolutist sounds like it’s just my thing π And I’m also really interested in what Quiet has to say and see if it has something to teach me.
Also, I just finished The Kingdom of Copper… I feel like someone has been stomping on my heart πΆ

The Kingdom of Copper tends to have that effect on people π But at least you don’t have to wait forever until the next book comes out and can just jump straight into The Empire of Gold! (And please tell me we might be getting in-depth opinions on The Kingdom of Copper soon? ππ€© I need to know what your current theories are! π€)

Well, there might have been a reason why I hadn’t started writing my post for the weekend before yesterday π And I’m mad at Scribd now because they don’t have The Empire of Gold! They had multiple versions of the first two so I fully expected them to have the third but no. My library doesn’t either so I guess I’m buying it, although I’m not that mad about that π

I guess I’m very much looking forward to that weekend post, then π And I feel you on Scribd, that has happened to me so many times! But I might be willing to forgive them because yes, there are probably worse things than owning The Empire of Gold, and I also found out they actually have A Little Life on there π Now I just need to find time to read it! My free time has largely been taken over by soccer, so I’ve only read a single book so far in June…

My free time is also all football, so I’m very grateful for my many bus trips. And yes, Scribd is forgiven for having A Little Life π

I’ve been considering picking up the Daevabad trilogy, I’m currently looking for another fantasy series to get into at the moment. Great post! π

I can only highly recommend the Daevabad trilogy based on what I’ve read so far π

I have not read any of these. I like the idea of leaving room for “mood” reads!

QUIET has been on my TBR list ever since it came out. It sounds fascinating. I have a copy somewhere…I hope we both enjoy it π
Happy TTT!

Great post!! This looks like such a fun idea and I absolutely love the cover from the wicker king. Carry On is probably one of my favorite series and I was so exciting for awtwb. I think that it definitely lived up to my (pretty high) expectations. Thank you! I really love Carry On as well, and I’m still waiting for my bookstore to get Any Way the Wind Blows. It’s very good to hear that it lived up to your expectations though! π
