“I still remember the day my father took me to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books for the first time. “
First line in The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Hi, guys. I hope you’re all doing well. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, and it’s meant to give you all a little insight into my reading this week. I’ll answer the 3 questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish?
- What do you think you’ll read next

What did you recently finish?
I finished The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, which I gave 4 stars. It’s one I don’t have too much to say about despite really enjoying it. It liked the way Zafón made me feel like I was actually in Barcelona and following the characters around. It was so detailed, and in these pandemic times, it’s nice that a book can at least help me pretend that I’m on vacation abroad. The writing itself was also exquisite. However, I probably wasn’t all that interested in the big mystery plot of the book, which meant that I did drag for me a few times, but it’s still a beautiful book.

What are you currently reading?
The only book I’m currently reading is Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb, the final book in the Farseer Trilogy, and I’m 57% in. It’s so, so good! It’s different from the first two books as we’ve left the court politics behind and instead, as the title says, go on a quest with Fitz. It had me a bit worried at the beginning because I really liked the court politics, but what we’ve gotten is just as good. So far it definitely still has the potential to become my favorite one in the series. I’m going to be in a state of pure misery when I’ve read that final page.

What do you think you’ll read next?
In case I don’t have too much of a book hangover from Assassin’s Quest, I’m going to start Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. You know, finishing a series means I get to start a new one.

I’m glad you enjoyed Shadow of the Wind! 😊 I agree the writing is exquisite, and I can’t even imagine what it must be like in the Spanish original if it’s already this amazing in translation 🥰 And I’m glad you at least got a literary vacation! 😂
I also finished Assassin’s Quest today, so you can expect to hear my thoughts on that soon 😉 I’m already excited to hear what you’ll think once you’re finished!

Yes, I did curse myself for not having learned Spanish because that most make the book even better.
I told you you read fast 😉 But looking forward to hearing what you think. I expect to be done this weekend because I’m currently at a place where I just want to be reading it all the time 😄

Well, I also decided to spend most of last night reading, since I was sleep-deprived from The Betrayals anyway 🤣 So that may have contributed to the reading speed 😁 And it also means that I relate to you saying you’re in a place where you don’t want to stop reading 😉
