“Why is it forbidden to write down specific knowledge of the magics?”
First line in Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb

Hi, guys. I hope you’re all doing well. WWW Wednesday a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, and it’s meant to give you all a little insight into my reading this week. I’ll answer the 3 questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish?
- What do you think you’ll read next

What did you recently finish?
I finished Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb, book two in the Farseer Trilogy, and I gave it 4 stars. So I didn’t love it as much as the first one, but I’m still greatly enjoying my experience with Hobb’s writing. However, this one had some romance I didn’t vibe with and the ending was a tiny bit disappointing to me. Somehow this one also managed to be even slower than the first book, which I personally don’t mind partly because I love Fitz with all of my heart. But you really need to be into slow-paced books to love this trilogy. Fortunately, I am.
I will have a spoiler-filled review up for it this weekend.

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima, the first book in the Shattered Realms series, and I am 22% in. I think it’s safe to say that the author was very busy in the beginning of this book. The first 40 pages had enough events in them to fill an entire book, and it’s just not slowing down. I have previously liked books by this author for how action-packed they were, but she has just jumped straight into it this time without properly introducing me to the characters first. Like, there have been quite a few deaths already… but I don’t care all that much. We also quickly move on to the next big event, so there’s really no time to feel any of it. But it reads quickly, so I guess that’s something.

What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m happy to say that our libraries finally have opened up again, at least partly, after having been shut down since December. That means that I finally got my hands on A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir, the final book in the An Ember in the Ashes series. I need to read a recap of the first three books first, though, because I remember nothing. Really excited to see how it ends!

Ahh I hope you love A Sky Beyond the Storm!! I adored that book π
Great post Line!! π

Ah, too bad you didn’t like Royal Assassin as much as the first book! My copy has actually finally arrived, so hopefully, I will get to it sometime this weekend so that I can read that upcoming review! π€
And I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Flamecaster. I personally wasn’t the biggest fan, but maybe you can convince me to reread it and finally continue on with this series if you gush about it enough π
And I really need to get to A Sky Beyond the Storm, too!

Yeah, Royal Assassin wasn’t as good as Assassin’s Apprentice, but I also loved that one so much that it was difficult for any book to top that. Still excited to know what you think of it now that you finally have it π
Not done with Flamecaster yet, but I can already say that it’s not going to be a gushing review π Also not a rant (yet).
